Adding a web part to calendar.aspx on calendar creation


Hello,

I'm trying to add a second web part (for navigation) to a calendar's
calendar.aspx whenever a new calendar gets created, but I can't figure it
out...

Here's what I tried so far:
1) create a calendar, customize calendar.aspx in Sharepoint Designer, and
save the customized calendar as a list template. This generates a STP (or
CAB) file containing my customized calendar.aspx plus a file manifest.xml. I
tried for two days to figure out how to add my web part to manifest.xml but
was not successful. It doesn't appear to be documented anywhere...

2) create a custom WebPartZone or WebPartManager but these classes are
*sealed* in WSS 3.0 ...

Any help is greatly appreciated and will be rewarded with good karma.
