How to Create Custom Email templates with PlaceHolders

Hi
    i'm new to MOSS 2007 , i have a requirement, we are implementing a
workflow i want to send cutomized email to the users as the users move
across the workflow,
basically what i want is a Customized Email Body Text with some
placeholders which can be replaced at runtime with the data based on
the workflow state and the To,BCC,CC,Subject field can even vary from
Work-Flow stages to stages..

what i thought of is ; to have email templates and placed them in a
document library, now in the workflow when the specific stage is
reached depending on the stage the EMAIL template is picked up from
the document library and the body text which contains the placeholders
will be replaced by some data

can any one guide me regrading the same, i searched a lot i didnt find
any solution

Thanks
Akhil
