Microsoft Sharepoint Portal Server

Need some help with Sharpoint portal server 2003

I am very new to Sharepoint portal server.  We are trying to install the
portal server with SQL Server 2005 which resides on a seperate server.
During the SPS2003 installation the setup wizard asks for a "Valid Microsoft
Windows Account"  Which state that it will be the configuration database
admin account.

We had specified SQL authentication in the services 2.0 install but I
believe this is asking for a windows authentication account.

Does SPS2003 require windows authentication to the SQL Server DB?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi,
SharePoint Portal Server 2003 is supported only on servers that are members
of a
domain. Installing and operating SharePoint Portal Server 2003 in a
workgroup environment is not supported.

You must be local admin on SPS 2003 server to install.

To install with SQL the DB admin account must be member of local admin or
power user, be assigned dbcreator and security admin role and be a domain
account if there is more than one server in the farm..

I can recommend you to use a dedicated windows service account for SQL!

Hope this helps you!
